With auto exposure, automatic stripe line type detection, GPS mapping and full survey video recording our system simplifies retroreflectivity measurement surveys for pavement marking maintenance engineers and other infrastructure stakeholders.

RetroTek have developed the world’s first mobile measurement device for Beta luminance and QD of road marking lane lines i.e. right & left lane lines of lane travelled simultaneously. The RetroTek-QD provides agencies with a fast reliable method to measure road markings’ suitability for ADAS operation in daytime. Until now markings were only assessed using night visibility and relative day visibility. RetroTek-QD provides a method to measure in stable ambient conditions, and when used in conjunction with RetroTek-D can provide the following 3 key measurements required for ADAS: Night Visibility, Day Visibility in controlled conditions and Day Visibility in ambient conditions.

Comprehensive Dynamic Retroreflectivity Measurements

The RetroTek-D records data in real time and automatically stores it on the PC. The data includes route travelled, retroreflective values (RL), day contrast ratio, GPS co-ordinates, temperature, humidity, distance, speed, time and presence/absence of reflective pavement markings (RPMs). The RetroTek-D surveys road traffic markings at normal traffic speeds, eliminating the need for traffic management or road closures, and can assess up to 6 reflective road assets in one pass.

Fast and Simple Survey Reporting

The easy-to-use and powerful Quickview reporting software provides instant reports at the end of each survey. The user friendly interface combines GPS tagged maps, video recordings of all markings and color coded performance thresholds into a single screen. Reports are available in several GPS tagged formats – csv, kml, she, pdf and video files

The RetroTek-QD enables Road Agencies, Road Profilers and Survey Contractors to use the latest technology on a survey vehicle to measure β and calculate Qd luminance of pavement markings with the same level of accuracy as QD handheld devices.

The RetroTek-QD is the latest innovation in road pavement condition surveys leveraging developments in lighting and camera technology with advanced software algorithms to accurately measure β and Qd luminance of pavement markings. The system can measure white/yellow and skip/continuous markings on asphalt/concrete by day/night in dry conditions. It is securely fitted to a vehicles roof racking system using the brackets supplied.

When combined with a RetroTek-D mobile retroreflectometer unit, the same computer can process retroreflectivity and the luminance factors automatically. As a result, only one vehicle & one survey operator is necessary to capture all the pavement marking data required.

All data from the RetroTek-QD is recorded to the in-vehicle tablet during the survey and can be transferred to QuickView-Pro survey visualization software platform to show color coded results, with GPS tags and video footage of the survey. Data is available in CSV, KML, SHP, PDF & video files. Road Agencies can rapidly pinpoint and prioritize restriping where it is needed most to ensure the safe operation of vehicles with ADAS systems & Autonomous vehicles on the road network.
